Pinus thunbergii ‘Thunderhead’

Pinus thunbergii ‘Thunderhead’ (syn. ‘Angelica’s Thunderhead’) – variation of Japanese black pine of acervate and compact growth;

  • yearly growth of 20 cm, 
  • long, firm, dark-green needles, 
  • requires permeable and moderate garden soils, as well as sunlit or semi-shadowed positions,
  • grows well in lee positions, 
  • good for home and oriental gardens; for free arrangements, group planting as well as a solitaire tree, 
  • -23 C frost-resistance.

Characterised by white buds at the bottom (most visible in winter and spring season).
