Pinus contorta ‘Chief Joseph’

Pinus contorta ‘Chief Joseph’ – variation of lodgepole pine in winter stains to yellow colour;

  • wide-conical habit,
  • growth similar to the species – after 10 years reaches about 2 m and 1,5 m width,
  • green needles,
  • grows well in moderate garden soils in sunlit positions,
  • picked for home gardens, group planting in colour arrangements and as a solitaire tree.

Regarded by many as best coloured pine.
