Pinus contorta ‘Chief Joseph’ – variation of lodgepole pine in winter stains to yellow colour;
- wide-conical habit,
- growth similar to the species – after 10 years reaches about 2 m and 1,5 m width,
- green needles,
- grows well in moderate garden soils in sunlit positions,
- picked for home gardens, group planting in colour arrangements and as a solitaire tree.
Regarded by many as best coloured pine.
